Astana – On 2 June 2023 the International Conference “Sustainable energy in Kazakhstan: prospects and challenges” will be held within the 1st EU – Kazakhstan Sustainable Energy Days.
The event will be attended by Mr Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission, and will convene high-level officials from the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Union (EU), sustainable energy experts, representatives of civil society, business, and international financial institutions.
The organizer of the Conference is the EU-funded project “Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia (SECCA)”. The event will provide a platform for policymakers and experts to share knowledge and experience in development and implementation of sustainable energy and energy efficiency policies.
The agenda of the Conference also features the Award ceremony to recognize winners of the EU’s contests #Reels4SustainableEnergy and for the best mural design. Mr Šefčovič will award the winners of the contests and announce the main prize – a study tour to Europe to learn about the European experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable energy transition (to be organised by the SECCA project tentatively in autumn 2023).
Background:
The EU – Kazakhstan Sustainable Energy Days is part of the broader EU – Central Asia Sustainable Energy Days campaign and aims at raising awareness of all national stakeholder groups and the broader public on the significance, benefits and accessibility of sustainable energy. The Conference is part of the III International Congress “Carbon Neutrality Pathways” organised by the Association of Regional Environmental Initiatives “Ecojer” in close cooperation with the EU-funded project “Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia” (SECCA) and with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
